The Nikon Coolpix L6 is one of the most attractive entry level point and shoot on the line of Nikon Coolpix cameras. This 3.6 by 2.4 by 1.0-inch, 4.4-ounces camera is a stylish, slim and an affordable camera that has the look, feel, and features of a more expensive camera. The Nikon Coolpix L6 digital camera has a 6.0 megapixel resolution with a 3x optical zoom lens (equivalent to a 38-116mm lens on a 35mm camera). It also has a 2.5-inch color LCD display for composing a shot. As with most Nikon’s point and shoot cameras, the Coolpix L6 isn’t equipped with an optical viewfinder.

Key features:

- 6.0 megapixel CCD sensor

- 3x optical zoom

- 2.5 LCD (115,000 pixels)

- ISO: 50 – 800

- Movie mode

- SD card compatible

Some of the interesting bells-and-whistles the Coolpix L6 has are Nikon’s tried-and-true in-camera technologies including D-Lighting to improve underexposed photos, an in-camera red-eye-fix, a face-priority AF, Best Shot Selector which lets users take a series of photos and picks out the one with the sharpest focus and ISO sensitivity to a maximum of ISO 800.

Though it comes with all those powerful features, in my opinion, perhaps the most striking thing about the Nikon Coolpix L6 digital camera is that it has exceptional battery life. The Japanese Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA) has set the standard for camera battery testing, and found that the Nikon Coolpix L6 can capture 1,000 shots on a single set of AA lithium batteries. With a single set of regular, inexpensive AA alkalines, users can squeeze off 400 shots, while rechargeable NiMH AA batteries will give a remarkable 540 shots.

However, many users complain about the image quality of the Coolpix L6 especially in low light condition. The camera looks like struggle in low light with its extremely inflexible and erratic ISO settings.

The bottom line on the Nikon Coolpix L6 digital camera is that it’s an attractive with decent overall speed point and shoot digital camera in the $150-$200 price range.
