Segmentation of digital cameras is not only addressed to the type of DSLR cameras, but also in the line of compact digital cameras. For instance, Canon PowerShot G11 ,a pocket digital camera, is intended for the advanced amateurs and professional photographers. This camera is packed with the richer features than ordinary pocket camera.
From the design point of view, the Power Shot G11 is more likely similar to its predecessor, the Canon G10. Wrapped in black color with a comfortable hand grip, the Canon G11 is a superior camera in a retro design. Even for large hands though, this camera still holds good, not slippery.
However, although similar to the G10, the Canon G11 camera is not just an upgrade because it has newer, high sensitivity sensor for better high ISO setting and excellent image. The G11 sports a 10 megapixel resolution with a 5x optical zoom lens (equivalent to a 28 – 140mm lens on a 35mm). It also features Canon’s new ‘dual Anti-Noise’ system, an all-new 2.8inch vari-angle LCD screen for composing your shot, built-in 3-stop ND filter, RAW capture, and Red-eye Correction.
One thing that set this camera apart from its competitor is the Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor for faster, more precise noise reduction delivering superior image quality, even at high ISO speeds. The Canon G11 is also packed with full manual controls, making it a perfect companion for serious photographers who want more control over the camera.
The only downside, to me, is the price tag. For around $500 I can buy an entry-level DSLR. So, should I buy the G11 or an entry-level DSLR? Do you have the same question in mind? Nevertheless, it’s up to you. If you are looking for an excellent pocket digital camera that will be easily slipped into your pocket, you should consider purchasing Canon G11.
