The Canon PowerShot SD550 Digital ELPH, also known as the IXUS 750 in some countries, is an update to its predecessor – the popular SD500. What’s new on the Canon SD550? Compared to the SD500, Canon SD550 has a larger LCD display, new 3 x 3 grid overlay on LCD for photo composition and fancy new tricks in playback mode.
The design
Powershot SD550 is an ultra-compact stylish digital camera from Canon. This Canon SD550 maintains the style and sophistication for which Powershot is renowned – the elegant ‘perpetual curve’ design returns. Canon SD550 measures about 3.5 x 2.2 x 1 inches and weighs about 8 ounces.
Features
The Canon PowerShot SD550 sports a 7.1 megapixel of resolution with a 3x optical zoom and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. With a 7.1 MP resolution, you can produce excellent photos with print sizes of up 13×19 inches.
This camera is also equipped with zooming optical viewfinder, 9-area smart AiAF auto focus, acclaimed fast Canon DIGIC II Image Processor, and powered by a compact rechargeable Li-Ion battery.
The SD550 is very easy to use, especially in its Auto mode. Though you have not read the manual yet, you will be able to operate this Canon easily.

Unfortunately, the Canon SD550 comes with only a 32MB Secure Digital (SD) memory card, which holds a grand total of 9 photos at the highest image quality setting. If you want to use this camera for a long day shooting, you have to purchase a memory card with higher capacity. A 1GB or more high speed SD card will be good for you.
Using Canon SD550 you can record high quality VGA movies and you can select between VGA and QVGA at 30 or 15 frames per second.
Conclusion
If you want a durable ultra-compact digital camera that produces excellent photos and is a top digital camera, the Canon SD550 is definitely for you. It may be not a cheap camera as it priced $699.95 at Amazon (as of this writing), but it is a reasonable price due to the quality it brings.
