Nikon Coolpix 5400 Digital Camera

Nikon Coolpix 5400
One of the most popular brands in the world of photography should be Nikon. People all around the word have known Nikon for its outstanding high-end cameras and optics. Nikon also offers a wide range of entry-level digital cameras for the beginners, for example the Nikon Coolpix 5400.
The Coolpix 5400 is Nikon’s follow up to the popular Coolpix 5000 camera. It has a 5.1 effective megapixels, delivering superior image quality – the hallmark of Nikon products. The biggest change between the 5000 and the 5400 is the brand new 4X Nikkor zoom lens (equivalent to a 28-116mm lens on a 35mm camera), which offers a lot more telephoto power compared to the old 3X lens. To protect your 4X zoom lens, this Nikon’s camera includes a lens cap and strap.
While the Coolpix 5400 retains the same swivel LCD monitor as its predecessor, the bad news is that it has shrunk from 1.8 to 1.5 inches. It’s true that the LCD resolution has been increased, but, for me, the larger screen will be better.
One thing that I really like about the Nikon Coolpix 5400 is that it has been equipped with the all-new, highly functional Mode dial, which allows users to directly select exposure modes and set various shooting parameters. The Mode dial works in conjunction with the Command dial and the center-click Multi selector to make camera setting a surprisingly simple task – giving users the freedom to focus on capturing the images they want.
Key features:
- 5.1 megapixel CCD sensor
- 4x optical zoom
- 1.5 inch LCD
- Optical viewfinder
- Built-in flash
- External flash hot shoe
- White balance
- Movie mode (with sound)
- CompactFlash Type I or II memory cards compatible
Should you buy the Nikon Coolpix 5400 I recommend buying an extra memory card as the camera includes only a 16 MB CompactFlash card in the box. You should need memory cards with higher capacity to store lots of images and videos. In addition, the Coolpix 5400 uses rechargeable EN-EL1 lithium-ion battery for power.
