The Canon Powershot S45 is a high-quality digital camera that delivers crisp and colorful picture files. Measuring 112 x 58 x 42mm (4.4 x 2.3 x 1.7 inches) and weighing about 310.5 grams (11.5 oz) with the battery and storage card installed, the Canon S45 is not a pocket-sized camera, but it’s small enough to fit into a coat pocket or small purse.

Comes as the successor to the Canon S40, actually, the S45 is based on Powershot G3 model. This camera incorporates many features from the high-end Canon’s G3 model, but in a more compact, portable format. Like the G3, the Canon S45 has an impressive range of automatic and manual exposure controls, JPEG and RAW file formats and in-camera adjustment of image sharpness, contrast, and color saturation.

The Canon S45 camera offers a 4.0 megapixel resolution, delivering up to 2,272 x 1,704-pixel resolution images. It also has a 3x optical zoom lens (equivalent to a 35-105mm lens on a 35mm camera) and a 1.8 inches LCD monitor to preview and line up your shot.

One thing that I really like about the camera is that the Canon S45 has very extensive exposure controls, most of which are accessed through its external control buttons using sub-menus and indicators displayed on the LCD monitor. These controls include a White Balance, Exposure Compensation, adjustable ISO sensitivities, Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB), the 3 metering modes and a handful of color and tone options.

In addition, the S45 has a direct-to-inkjet printer connection, enabling the user to make prints to several of the company’s newest inkjet or bubble-jet printers. The Canon S45 is powered by Canon NB-2L rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
