Canon A700
The Canon Powershot A700 is an excellent point and shoot digital camera for all-purpose photography. With the dimension of 95 x 67 x 43 mm (3.7 x 2.6 x 1.7 in) and weight of 200gr (7.1 oz), the Canon A700 is not a pocket-sized camera but it is small enough to fit into your jacket pocket or a small purse.
In term of features, the Canon A700 is the first step in yet another expansion of the A-series to a new level. The 6x optical zoom lens, equivalent to 35 – 210mm lens on a 35mm camera, is a longer lens than any A-series previously. It has a 6 megapixel resolution, enough for detailed 11×14 inch prints.
The Powershot A700 offers a 2.5 inch LCD monitor and an optical viewfinder for framing your shot. For saving battery life, you can turn off the LCD and just use the optical viewfinder.
One thing that I really like about this camera is that the Canon A700 allows user to control the shutter and the aperture manually. You can control the shutter from 15 to 1/2000 second (depending on aperture) and the aperture from f2.8 to f8.0 (depending on focal length).
With an ISO range from 80 to 800, this Canon’s is very good for indoor low-light shots. The A700 uses 2 AA batteries for power, making it a perfect choice for you who are looking for a digital camera on your vacation. You will easily find AA batteries all around the world.
In addition, the Canon A700 camera can capture TV-quality 640×480 or 320x 240 videos at 30 frames per second. However, as the camera comes with a 16MB memory card, you better buy a card with higher capacity to store lots of images and movies.
