Canon Powershot A640 comes as the successor to the popular Canon A620. Compared to its predecessor the Canon A640 has got a bit of facelift and other improved features. The camera has a 10 megapixel resolution with a 4x optical zoom lens that offers an effective focal length of 35-140mm. Actually, the A640 was launched with an almost identical twin, the Canon A630. The only major difference between these two models is that the A630 has a sensor 8MP as opposed to 10MP.
The Canon A640 is equipped with a 2.5-inch vari-angle LCD and real-image optical viewfinder to preview or line up your shot. For faster performance and image processing, the A640 is also featured with the advanced DIGIC II processor.

The Powershot A640 has the ISO range from 80 up to 800. The new high-speed ISO 800 setting allows you to shoot correctly exposed images in low light conditions without using a flash.
The ‘iSAPS’ (Intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space) automatically optimizes key camera setting before image capture. This enables the camera to make optimal adjustments to auto focus, auto white balance and auto exposure before every shot.
In addition, there are 15 different scene modes on offer for novice and more advanced Shutter-priority. For those who desire greater control, the Canon A640 camera offers Manual shooting modes. The camera is powered by AA battery.
